San Anselmo - Pre-K Program
Our top priorities at
The Kids' Place in San Anselmo are the safety, health and happiness of your child. We are here to provide a
stimulating environment in which all children feel loved, valued and eager to explore and discover information.
When young children achieve balance in their lives, they center themselves. They then feel confident to make
independent choices regarding play, friendships and a style of learning. It is our vision to help a child to
understand that he has all the tools he needs to move forward. It is also a priority to encourage all children
to find their voice and realize that someone will hear them. Understanding your own potential and the confidence
to ask for help when needed are each key tools that make the journey of education more positive.
Our Junior Pre-Kindergarten
Our young four year olds
curriculum is inspired by the work of Reggio-Emilia, Waldorf and Montessori programs. We are ecclectic. It is
inspired by the interests of the children and the children drive the curriculum. We focus on the ability to make
choices in art activities while accentuation process instead of product.
We also bake on a regular basis, cut and create our own individual art as often as possible, learn to work together on puzzles and
do a good amount of lacing (which leads to sewing in pre-k).
Our Pre-Kindergarten
Our Pre-K program
is also ecclectic and inspired by the philosophies of Reggio Emilia, Waldorf and Montessori. Our curriculum
is child-centered; play based and is led by the interests of the children. We also focus on process rather
than product and let the children's enthusiams drive the project. Projects last as long as there is interest
and can lead to related projects. Literacy, math and science are incorporated into our play. We also incorporate
the neighborhood as often as possible and walk to the neighborhood and mail a letter home. Several times a week,
we spend fifteen minutes in small group activities that focus on kindergarten readiness. When our children enter
the big new world of formal education, we want them to be confident that they are prepare. It's a great year!
